error 27772, The existing Office Communications Server database is not available for use

Installed LCS2005, all was working. Somone pulled power on server since then services would not start. Ended up unistalling and leaving user db in place. Error on reinstall error 27772, The existing Office Communications Server database is not available for use. I cannot remove database as LCS2005 has been removed. I manually deleted .mdl &.ldf files but still the install comes up with same error. I have also tried installing LCS2007 over the top but with same error.

Any help greatly appreciated.
